Supreme Court has rendered a pertinent judgment on how limitation for sending legal notice to the manufacturer runs in consumer complaint under section 28 of the Punjab Consumer Protection Act. The said section is silent on the issue that when the limitation of sending legal notice starts. The Court has settled this issue by holding that reading the statute holistically, 30 days is the limitation period of sending legal notice after the day of acquiring the knowledge of the defect in the good by the consumer. The time period is very crucial in consumer complaints.
