The Islamabad High Court granted bail to our client Mr. Mamoon Ur Rasheed, who was accused of the offence under sections 9B and 9C of Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997.
The case was unique and challenging because our client had previously been granted bail by the trial court; however, subsequently, he was re-arrested for allegedly skipping bail – a charge he denies.
Our Associate Partner Bevarg Baloch who argued the case placed reliance upon a series of precedents where the superior courts of Pakistan have defended the right to liberty of under-trial persons.
Through an 8-page order authored by Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, the High Court has allowed our petition and graciously extended the concession of bail to our client.
