The Parliament has finally brought a new legislation called the Pakistan Air Safety Investigation Act, 2023, which deals with the investigation of accidents and incidents arising out of navigation of aircraft and the matters ancillary thereto. Before the commencement of this Act, the investigation of such accidents and incidents used to be conducted under section 7 of the Civil Aviation Ordinance, 1960. There was no proper legislation to deal with the issue. This Act is exclusively dealing with the issue of investigation of accidents and incidents occur on aircraft.
