The Legislature has amended the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 2010, by adding a new section 4 thereto.
Section 4 (1) of the amendment Act requires the issuing authority of driving license to make provision on the first page of the driving license in the form of undertaking where the license holder can give his/her consent regarding the donation of their organs in case of an accident. Sub section 2 provides that whoever applies for the driving license may give consent that his/her organs may be donated and transplanted to a patient in need of such organs in case of an accidental death.
