MUHAMMAD ALEE QURESHI

Advocate

After graduating with an LLB (Hons.) from the University of London, I interned with a number of corporate and litigation law firms in Islamabad. However, I was looking for a place where I could grow both as a practitioner and as a thinker. After a few months of wandering, I finally found my place at Law and Policy Chambers where I have been working for almost two years now.

During this period, I have assisted Barrister Umer Ijaz Gilani in more than 50 cases before the Islamabad High Court and Lahore High Court. I have drafted innumerable applications and petitions and written a large number research memorandums and legal opinions on questions of Pakistan laws. I also had the opportunity to work directly with the firm’s  clients which include people like Registrar, Pakistan Engineering Council, Registrar, Competition Commission of Pakistan, and former Chairmen of HEC and Islamic Ideology Council. What is more valuable, in my personal view, is that I also had the chance to work with the kind of client very few commercial law firms in Pakistan can boast of: the relatives of Missing Persons, residents of katchi abadis and other members of society who are fighting an uphill battle to access justice.

At Law and Policy Chambers, Associates are encouraged to independently conduct cases and to directly handle clients. Therefore, I have  independently conducted a number of Appeals before the President of Pakistan, and am presently carrying out trials before the Intellectual Property Tribunal and Special Court (Central), Islamabad.

As you can guess from the name, the aim of Law and Policy Chambers is to groom practitioners who are not only good at servicing client but are also deeply invested in reforming the justice system. Therefore, as a part of my public service work, I have been carried out research our delay-ridden civil justice system and have published articles on the subject.

If you have any legal issues or queries related to Pakistani justice system, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
