Abdul Rafay Siddiqui Advocate Abdul Rafay Siddiqui is an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan and holds a BA-LLB (Hons.) degree from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. Prior to joining Law & Policy Chambers, Abdul Rafay gained valuable experience in contentious and non-contentious matters such as arbitrations, project financing and regulatory compliance. At Law & Policy Chambers, Abdul Rafay provided excellent advisory work to a wide range of clients on various facets of law such as anti-money laundering, competition law, procurement law and real-estate matters. Clients advised included prominent regulatory bodies, prominent development sector organizations and start-ups. Represented a leading pharmaceutical company in preliminary hearings before the Intellectual Property Tribunal (Islamabad) in a case concerning infringement of trademark and copyrights. Assisted the Islamabad High Court on various occasions as part of Commissions, which were led by Mr. Umer Gilani. Omer Imran Malik Advocate Omer Imran Malik (CIPP, US and CIPM) is a Business and Human Rights lawyer specializing in technology law who worked on strategic public interest litigation and public policy work at the Law and Policy Chambers. A graduate of the LUMS Shaikh Ahmed Hassan School of Law, Omer has participated and won in many national and international moot court competitions and participated in various international peace building conferences representing Pakistan and LUMS. The bill was submitted to the Minister of Law of the Federal Government and made the basis for the first major civil law reforms in Pakistan in decades.ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Assisted Mr. Gilani in successfully defending a judgement in appeal before the Islamabad High Court in a case involving state liability for enforced disappearances.ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Co-drafted a โ€œVictimsโ€™ billโ€ with Mr. Gilani and Mrs. Amina Masood Janjua to criminalize and prevent the crime of enforced disappearances in Pakistan which created a new investigation agency, a new court and new penalties and developed a compensatory regime for victims and victim families.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Provided multiple consultancies to National Commission of Human Rights (NCHR), Media Matters for Democracy (MMFD) and Digital Rights Foundation (DRF) on the Pakistan data protection bill (PDPL) and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Researched citizenship law and case law to assist Mr. Gilani in succesfully challenging the non-provision of citizenship to a child of Afghan refugees who was born in Pakistan and enforcing his citizenship rights under Section 4 of the citizenship act.ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Assisted Mr. Gilani in securing a US womanโ€™s custodial and visitation rights to see her minor son in Pakistan.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Successfully argued an appeal on behalf of a young engineer who had challenged the terms of the bond he had signed with his ex-employer for being unconscionable, exploitative and against public policy.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย .ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Assisted Mr. Gilani in successfully challenging the wrongful placement of a young professional being placed on the ECL and being denied to leave Pakistan for his further education.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Assisted Mr. Gilani in challenging the illegal cancellation of khokha licenses by the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad while running a very successful public advocacy campaign which gained the khokhas lots of public support and appeal among the people of Islamabad.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  ๏ƒ˜ย ย ย ย ย Assisted Mr. Gilani in a UN project mapping transgender rights in Pakistan โ€“ also successfully helped a transgender business woman to gain a business loan by writing a legal notice against the NGO provider for discriminating against her. ย  Omer is now working as a Senior Data Privacy Analyst at Securiti, a leading global data privacy management software provider.
