Bevarg Sattar Baloch

Bevarg Sattar Baloch

BEVARG SATTAR BALOCH Advocate High Courts I did my law from Balochistan University and got my initial practical training at a chamber in Quetta. Subsequently, our family move to Islamabad where I have been in practice for about 5 years. While I am enrolled as a High Court advocate and have appeared before a variety of courts, my forte is trial litigation – or, as it is popularly known ‘katchehri’ work. While many younger lawyers fancy appellate and constitutional advocacy, I consider trial work to be far more important. This is what I excel at. Trial advocacy is an art in itself. It requires street smarts and often represents a test of patience; but, ultimately the rewards are also greater.ย  This is why, every day, I appear before the trial courts of Islamabad ranging from the Court of Magistrate to Sessions Courts, Family Courts and District Court. Recently, along with my senior colleague Umer Ijaz Gilani, I have also carried out some successfully trial workย  before the Election Commission of Pakistan and Federal Ombudsman against Sexual Harrassment of Women at the Workplace. I joined forces with Law and Policy Chambers about two years ago. The work environment is highly collegiate and friendly. It has provided me the two things that a lawyer in his early career most needs: a steady income, regular stream of work and a conducive environment where I can focus on building a name for myself within my area of specialization. Sajjad Hameed Yousafzai

Sajjad Hameed Yousafzai

Sajjad Hameed Yousafzai Advocate High Courts I completed my LLB (Hons.) degree from the International Islamic University in Islamabad, which is well-known for its department of law. After graduating in 2020, I started practicing law at the district level in Islamabad. My first senior colleague had previously served as Civil Judge and had a busy trial courts practice, so I gained extensive experience in procedural law. I had the opportunity to argue cases in diverse areas such as land, revenue, family, and employment laws. During this time, I also successfully represented major corporations such as OGDCL in corporate, commercial, arbitration, labor, and service matters before trial courts. After spending two years in a busy trial courts chamber, I wanted to join a firm which would give me experience of constitutional law and policy matters. That is why I joined Law and Policy Chambers. BILAL AKBAR LAGHARI

Bilal Akbar Laghari

Bilal Akbar Laghari Advocate High Court I have been actively practicing law for almost 10 years now. I realized pretty early on that there most Pakistani lawyers lackย  specialization. You will often see one lawyer trying to do every kind of work ranging from litigation to corporate registrations and transactions; as a result, he is unable to excel at any of these, despite working long hours. That is why, over the past few years, I have been focusing on corporate registrations, IP registration and conveyancing-related tasks. I have been blessed with a vast network of clients in these field and have built a reputation for success which is second to none. I decided to join forces with Law and Policy Chambers because this is a unique firm whose business model is based on specialization and synergies. I am able to focus on a select few areas of work and yet build a flourishing practice. My principal areas of expertise are: i) Corporate Registration and compliance, Over the years, I have advised hundreds of startup businesses about organizational structure. I have handled the registration of partnerships before the Registrar of Firms, incorporation of companies with the SECP, filing of annual returns and generally compliance with corporate law. I have also helped many NGOs get registration.ย  ii) Intellectual Property registrations;ย  I regularly handle matters related to registration of trademarks and copyrights before Intellectual Property Office. iii) Property Transfer and Conveyancing I have extensive experience ofย  property transfer and conveyancing matters. I have helped a number of clients get Sale Deeds registered with the sub-Registrar, ICT as well as done a number of CDA property transfers. Jahanzeb Durrani

Jahanzaib Durrani

Jahanzaib Durrani Advocate High Court I have been practicing law in Pakistan for over 10 years now.ย  Early on in my professional career, I had an opportunity to work on the famous case of Reko Dik mines. This is where I experienced the acute shortage of world-class legal expertise in niche areas in the Pakistani market. While there is an abundance of generalist lawyers, there’s a shortage of experts, especially in natural resources law, international investment law and international arbitration. Therefore, after a few years of practicing in a firm of commercial lawyers, I went on to pursue two LLMs: my first LLM wasย  in Oil, Gas, and Mining Law from Nottingham Law School, UK while the second one was in International Financial Law from King’s College London. In 2018, after returning to Pakistan, I set up an independent practice which was focused on civil and corporate commercial matters. I represented various clients before various forums in anti-dumping matters and advised mergers and acquisitions. I also have experience in taxation and construction matters involving FIDIC agreements. I regularly provide legal advise to the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade. In 2020, in recognition for my expertise and knowledge in natural resources law, the Government of Pakistan appointed me as an Independent Director on the Board of Saindak Metals (Pvt.) Limited. In 2021, I received a similar appointment in Oil and Gas Development Company Limited.ย  Most law firms in Pakistan are based on the brilliance and fame of a single lawyer who tries to dabble in all areas of law. Instead, our aim at Law and Policy Chambers is to create a work environment where different specialists can achieve excellence in their own respective areas of practice.ย  Contact Info Phone: 03330491916 Email: j.durrani@hotmail.com Follow on Facebook Twitter Youtube Linkedin Education * MASTER OF LAWS โ€“ LL.M IN INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL LAW 2017 โ€“ 2018 Kingโ€™s College London, United Kingdom Majors: International Project Finance and Loan Sales, Securitization & Derivatives, Financial Risk, Stability and Regulation, Human Development and the Rule of Law in Transnational Perspective. * MASTER OF LAWS โ€“ LL.M IN OIL, GAS & MINING LAW 2014-2015 Nottingham Law School, United Kingdom Majors: International Investment Law, International Commercial Transactions, And International Crimes and ICC. * BACHELOR OF LAWS โ€“ LL.B (HONS) 2010-2013 University of London (International Program) Areas of Expertise Natural Resources Law 10 years experience in case law Energy Law Corporate Advisory Service Law Recent Cases and Transactions Mining Lease of EL-202 – Chaghi, Balochistan Oil and Gas E&P in Abu Dhabi Reviewed Contractual and Bidding Documents on behalf of OGDCL Training on Anti-Money Laundering Laws for Public Prosecutors Conducted a training on AMLA regime and CFT laws in collaboration with American Bar Association ECP Ought to Act Within the Confines of Law: SC Question of Jurisdiction Shall be Attended First: SC Amendments in the Listed Companies (Code of Corporate Governance) Regulations, 2019 SC Upholds the Legality of Pakistanโ€™s Citizen Portal. MUHAMMAD ALEE QURESHI Advocate After graduating with an LLB (Hons.) from the University of London, I interned with a number of corporate and litigation law firms in Islamabad. However, I was looking for a place where I could grow both as a practitioner and as a thinker. After a few months of wandering, I finally found my place at Law and Policy Chambers where I have been working for almost two years now. During this period, I have assisted Barrister Umer Ijaz Gilani in more than 50 cases before the Islamabad High Court and Lahore High Court. I have drafted innumerable applications and petitions and written a large number research memorandums and legal opinions on questions of Pakistan laws. I also had the opportunity to work directly with the firm’s  clients which include people like Registrar, Pakistan Engineering Council, Registrar, Competition Commission of Pakistan, and former Chairmen of HEC and Islamic Ideology Council. What is more valuable, in my personal view, is that I also had the chance to work with the kind of client very few commercial law firms in Pakistan can boast of: the relatives of Missing Persons, residents of katchi abadis and other members of society who are fighting an uphill battle to access justice. At Law and Policy Chambers, Associates are encouraged to independently conduct cases and to directly handle clients. Therefore, I have  independently conducted a number of Appeals before the President of Pakistan, and am presently carrying out trials before the Intellectual Property Tribunal and Special Court (Central), Islamabad. As you can guess from the name, the aim of Law and Policy Chambers is to groom practitioners who are not only good at servicing client but are also deeply invested in reforming the justice system. Therefore, as a part of my public service work, I have been carried out research our delay-ridden civil justice system and have published articles on the subject.  If you have any legal issues or queries related to Pakistani justice system, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
