In Pakistan, civil courts have plenary and original jurisdiction in all civil matters unless it has been excluded from the jurisdiction of the civil courts expressly by the law. That is why the civil courts have significant role in the judicial system of the country. The procedure from how to initiate a civil case in a civil court to how to get it to the conclusion is governed by the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.
