Criminal justice system is widely recognized as one of the vital component of a legal system. A legal system or even a state without an effective criminal justice system cannot flourish nor it can sustain. Our criminal justice system is primarily divided into two parts, substantial law and procedural law. Pakistan Penal Code falls under the substantial part of our criminal justice system while procedure to implement the substantial part is primarily addressed by the Code of Criminal Procedure which is commonly referred to by its short form, Cr.PC.
