The Parliament has recently amended the Elections Act, 2017 for the second time in a very short span of time. The Elections (Second Amendment) Act, 2023, has been passed wherein numerous amendments has been made to the Act. New definitions have been added, certain clauses has been omitted and new sections has been introduced through the new amendment act. The big development is the amendment in section 12 where expressions, “non Muslims, disabled person and transgender” have been inserted after the word “women”.
